How do I know what fabrics will look like in my home?

We know that the majority of customers like to see their potential fabric right in their own windows, which is why we offer free samples and free shipping. You can color coordinate with your home and have more peace of mind about ordering online. Windows Dressed Up Online free samples lets you touch and compare your choice of fabrics, materials and or colors for your custom product.

You can order up to 10 free samples. Samples are approximately 9” by 9” or 6” by 6”. Request a sample when you are viewing our fabric selections. Click the “Send me a Sample” box. Standard shipping for samples is free and orders are usually delivered within 10 business days via US mail. Once you receive your sample, keep in mind that the samples may have minimal color variations from the actual product due to dye lot variations.

What is light leakage or light seepage?

Light leakage or seepage is inherent to inside and outside mounted products which will not form a perfect seal to block out all light. This is normal and should be expected.

Bead Chain Lift System versus Pull Cord?

Cord Pull is a cord that uses a cord lock to keep the shade in a locked or unlocked position for lifting or lowering. Cord Pull works well within size limitations. All shades have child-safety break-away cords.
Continuous Bead Chain Lift System easily raises or lowers your shade with no dangling cords. They are required for shades of larger sizes in width & length. This option is a child-safe product.

I want to order a larger product than the website will let me. Is this possible?

Size restrictions are based on fabric and workroom limitations. The size limits on our website represent the largest recommended size for each product.

What do you mean by custom made shades?

Custom shades are made based on the measurements you provide, so they have a perfect fit. Windows Dressed Up Online Volari roman shades are of top quality. You will not find a superior made shade anywhere, with over 2,000 fabrics and colors to choose from. The styles and options offered by other stock shades and websites shades are limited, and many are made overseas. Our production process and premium materials extend the life of your shades, as well as providing a flawless look that will enhance your home for years to come.

What makes our custom made drapes, curtains, side panels, & valances different?

All of our custom curtains and custom drapes are made to your measurements. Your draperies and side panels are made with a permanent woven stiffener at the top of the drapery to form the pleats. Many others use a paper stiffener that will fall apart over time. We also use a double 4” bottom hem with weights in all seams and corners, to keep a consistent flow at the bottom. All top and bottom corners are hand-sewn closed to give the draperies and side panels a cleaner edge than a machine stitch. We also offer a pleat stabilizer option at the bottom of your custom drapery fabric, which will “train” the fabric panel to stay in place. Custom means just that. You have the opportunity to choose the amount of fabric you want for the fullness of your curtains and drapes. 1) Light =1 ½ x the product width, 2) Medium = 2 ¼ the product width, and 3) Maximum = 3x the product width. Windows Dressed Up workroom seamstresses also use color coordinated cotton thread, not mono-filament thread.

Can I send you my own fabric to make my product?

Sorry no, we only produce products with the fabrics shown on our website. These fabrics are all first quality and will stand up to time.

Will every part of my shade match the fabric?

An exact match in color is not always possible for head rails, cords, thread, tassels and bead chains. The colors are predetermined by the workroom. Every effort is made to match as close as possible to the fabric.

How do I clean my window treatment?

Minimal care and cleaning is recommended to maintain the beauty of your products. Clean with the bristle attachment, on your vacuum, or dust with a soft clean cloth or feather duster. Never immerse your treatment in any liquid, or steam clean.

Do you want the exact measurement of the opening for an inside mount shade?

Yes. For inside mount shades, please provide the exact measurement rounded down to the nearest 1/ 8”. The workroom will take a slight deduction on the width to make sure it fits inside of the window with enough clearance to operate correctly.

What is the difference between inside mount and outside mount shade?

Inside mount is when the shade, fits inside of the window opening. Mounting as an inside mount generally has a cleaner, neater look. Outside mount is when the shade is mounted outside the window opening, and is used if there isn’t enough depth to mount the product inside the opening.

Is there a minimum window depth for an inside mount shade?

Yes there is. The minimum depth for an inside mount shade is 2 5/8” for a standard cord pull, and 3 1/2” for a bead chain.

What if I make a mistake on my measurements?

If you measure incorrectly we will allow a 35% discount on the reorder for the same product, fabric and window.

How difficult is the installation process, and are there instructions?

Windows Dressed Up 50+ years of industry know-how has simplified all aspects of the process. It’s not that difficult. If you can use a drill, or screw driver it will be no problem. Installation instructions are available in printable PDF form or videos below.

If you still do not feel comfortable measuring and installing your products, we suggest contacting local handyman services in your area. Search “window treatment installation”, “drapery installation”, “handyman services”, etc, on your computer. Call the local service desk at your DIY/Hardware/Homecenter store for recommendations.

We accept Paypal – you will be able to use Visa, Master Card or American Express through this secure service.

Do you charge sales tax?

There is no sales tax on any orders shipped to states other than Colorado, as Windows Dressed Up resides in Colorado.

Ordering and Shipping

How fast will I get my order?

Windows Dressed Up Online will try to make sure you get your order as fast as possible. However, because our products are all custom made, there is a manufacturing time associated with every order. The time it takes to produce an order varies depending on the size of the order and holiday times. Once you submit your order it will be immediately sent to our workroom. Most orders are shipped in 3-4 weeks.

Orders are shipped via UPS or FedEx allowing 3-5 days for shipment to receive your order.

When will I know my order has gone into production?

Windows Dressed Up Online will email you a confirmation shortly after receipt of your order. Your order is now in line for production.

How do I know my order has shipped?

When your order has shipped we will email you a tracking number that allows you to view your estimated delivery date.

I did not receive an order confirmation, what do I do?

If you did not receive an order confirmation please check your spam folder as the email may have been blocked by your provider. If it is not in your spam folder, send us an email and we will find your confirmation number for you. Email us at wduonline@windowsdressedup.com

Is it possible to delete or change my order after I have submitted it?

No, each order is placed into production immediately after check out and cannot be changed. Please ensure that the sizes and colors are correct before submission.

Do you charge for shipping?

Shipping is free through standard UPS or FedEx.

I live in Hawaii/Alaska. Can you ship to me?

We ship free to Alaska & Hawaii, but not Canada or other international countries at this time.

What if some of my products were damaged during shipping?

Claims for visible or concealed damage must be filed by you with UPS/FedEx and save all damaged cartons. Upon receipt of your order, immediately inspect the box for any shipping damage and have the driver notate it on their delivery paperwork. If you find your products(s) damaged or defective, please contact Windows Dressed Up Online within 48 hours at wduonline@windowsdressedup.com. If the product requires repair or replacement, you will be given a Return Goods Authorization number (RGA) and shipping address to return the product(s). Returns must have an RGA to be accepted by the workroom. Return products need to be in the original box in which it was received.

Can I save my shopping cart?

Yes you can. You must have logged in to your Windows Dressed Up Online account to save your shopping cart. You will be able to Add to Favorites those items you would like to keep for later review. This button will appear next to each item in the shopping cart, and once you click it, the item will be saved against your account to use upon your return.

Can I return my product(s)?

Because every product is custom made, we cannot allow returns. If you are unhappy or made an error, we offer a 35% discount off a reorder as a replacement for the same size.
